Lagano

Bachelor's Thesis Project | Library in Gothenburg's harbour area in close proximity to the Göta Canal. The library is spread on two floors with an intimate open courtyard - this to follow the seasons and include nature while reading in this urban setting. The main references for this project were Galerie Bastian in Berlin, The Franciscan Monastery in Dubrovnik, Castelvecchio by Carlo Scarpa and the many parks in Paris with pebbled courtyards and casual chair placements to enjoy.

Inspired by the Franciscan Monastery in Dubrovnik, the library's main area consists of this minimalistic loggia where inside and outside is being erased through the transparent glass walls, with concrete floor extending out to the courtyard. Custom made oak benches enable you to read your book overlooking the season's greenery.
